Welcome to the Masai Mara, recently designated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Royal Mara Safari Lodge is situated directly on the wildebeest "Great Migration" route, near the two world famous wildebeest migratory Mara River crossing points and near Leopard Gorge, all made internationally known by the BBC’s Big Cat Diary television program.
We are located on the popular Hippo Bend Lagoon of the Mara River, amongst several elephant, buffalo and giraffe herds, and with close proximity to several lion prides, including the “Maternity” Musiara Marsh, “Aitong”, and Ridge prides. Given our position in the richest game section of the Masai Mara, the Western Masai Mara, our guests are in the best location to most readily discover the Big Five mammals. Thousands of wildlife documentaries and countless millions of photographs stand testament to this timeless corner of the world
The Royal Mara is ideally situated for game drive viewing. The lodge is set out in the Koyiaki conservation area approximately five miles upriver from the world renowned Koyiaki-Kichwa migration crossing point. Leopard Gorge and Musiara Marsh made famous by the BBC's Big Cat Diary program are just a four mile and seven mile distance respectively south of the Royal Mara.
The other well known crossing point at "Mara Serena" is only a fifteen mile game drive down river from the Royal Mara. Several lion prides are within proximity of the lodge with the "Maternity" pride on our periphery, the "Aitong" pride to our north and the Musiara Marsh, "Acacia Woodland," and Ridge prides to our south. In contrast to the National Reserve area, the Koyiaki conservation area allows game walks and night game drives enabling us to offer our guests a fulfilling safari experience
The Royal Mara's six luxury guest suites, all with Mara River frontage, are built on elevated cedar and mahogany wood decks with private verandas. Our accommodations are equipped with four-poster super king and double size beds, all elegantly hand-carved solid wood furnishings and full en-suite bathrooms.
Royal Mara guests are spoiled as they sunbathe in our open veranda chaises longes or dine along our river frontage as hippos wallow in the nearby river. All of our guests experience elegant haute cuisine on a unique wilderness safari
Experience luxurious standards of comfort and the personal attention of an exclusive butler. Our elegant carved furnishings will leave you with memorable impressions. At night listen to bush sounds from roaming wildlife.
Resident hippos abandon their river sanctuary after sundown to graze between the river guest suites which are positioned on raised wooden decks with protective railings to insure the safety of our guests at all times
Our riverfront guest suite facilities include: hand carved super size king or double beds, double vanity sinks, carved desks, dining sets, en suite bathrooms with flush toilets, bidets, and showers, fully stocked mini-bars, private safe deposit boxes and lounge areas.
